In individual therapy you are encouraged to talk about everything, including how you experience the therapy itself. Scientists are finding that as you talk, new neural pathways develop in the brain. You may consolidate new outlooks on old memories or shift the way you understand yourself and others. You may find that outdated, old ways of viewing the world can be altered and changed. Previously uncontrolled emotions begin to find new ways of being understood and expressed. People find new solutions to old problems.
